Dr. Itsuka Kurihara graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, and then attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her OB/GYN residency training at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, where she was an administrative chief resident.
She is trained in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including robotics, laparoscopic and vaginal surgeries. She was awarded the AUGS Award for Excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in June 2022. She has a strong interest in family planning and reproductive health and is especially excited to be working with younger women to support their contraceptive needs. Dr. Kurihara is thrilled to continue to work and train residents at Cooperman Barnabas and to give back to the program.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, spoiling her cat, attending concerts, and riding the Peloton with her recently graduated co-residents.
