“I have had a lifelong interest in the empowerment of women. I was compelled by the fundamental lack of understanding of the human body in the general population and my personal concerns about teen pregnancy. I enjoy connecting the dots for patients and helping them see the big picture.”
Janet Summerly hails from Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Janet graduated from Providence College with a B.S. in Biology and began a 20+ year career in the Brewing industry. She attended Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland and is credentialed in Malting and Brewing Science. Faced with a shrinking industry and a desire to have more of an impact on women’s issues, she changed careers and earned her BSN and MSN in Nursing from Seton Hall University, graduating Summa Cum Laude (2006). Janet is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Janet joined OB/GYN of East Brunswick in 2011 as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and is happy to see obstetrical and gynecological patients. She is a member of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health. In her free time, Janet enjoys knitting and caring for her many pets!

"I've been seeing Janet for my annual checkup for the last few years. She is thorough and thoughtful without being over aggressive. I really appreciate her and will continue to see her in the future."
Patient"Every time I make an appointment, I request to see Janet. She is a pleasure and always treats her patients with respect. She makes me feel comfortable every time I go see her and never lets me leave unless she has fully answered all of my questions and concerns."
Patient"Janet Summerly is a patient, caring, knowledgeable healthcare professional who listened to all my concerns and questions. She was easy to talk to and took the time to review my complete history as this was my first appointment with her. She provided a very thorough examination and detailed feedback on all of my concerns. I would not hesitate to recommend her to any woman seeking gyneacological care."
