Read MoreGwendolyn Merchant is a double-board-certified family and psychiatric nurse practitioner. Gwendolyn is of West African origin. She was born and raised in Liberia and relocated to the US in 2000 to the State of Pennsylvania, where she lived up until October 2022, when she and her fiancé welcomed the most amazing baby girl. She currently resides in Maryland with her family.
Gwendolyn loves being a health care provider. She has been in the healthcare field since 2005. Gwendolyn initially started working as a CNA in 2005 as she pursued her nursing degree as an RN. She then graduated from nursing school in August 2006 and continued to work as an RN from 2006 to 2010 as she continued her nursing education for her master’s in nursing. In 2010, Gwen graduated with honors with her nurse practitioner degree and has been working as a nurse practitioner from 2010 to present.
Gwen has worked as a family nurse practitioner caring for at-risk, underserved patient populations in Pennsylvania. While working as a Family nurse practitioner, she saw there was a great need for mental health providers, and this need had exponentially increased with the pandemic. This motivated her to go back to school after 11 years of practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner for her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license. She enrolled at Wilkes University and graduated with honors in 2022 with her Psychiatric mental health degree.
Gwendolyn’s goal is to provide quality psychiatric care in the most timely and efficient way possible. She aims to improve the lives of clients by delivering exceptional mental health care and to bring about mental health awareness by empowering clients with the education and services they need. Gwen believes that one cannot have complete wellness without taking care of his or her mental health. As a provider, she believes in partnering with clients to help them reach optimal health, which can be achieved by caring for the individual’s mind, body, and spirit.
