Renee Hensley was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky and moved to Lexington to continue her education in nursing. Renee graduated from Lexington Community College in 1992 with an Associate Degree in Nursing and started her career at Baptist Health of Lexington. After 10 years, Renee returned to Eastern Kentucky University and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Renee then developed a special interest in cardiovascular disease and worked for 11 years in the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology lab. She decided to return to school and received her National Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in August of 2017.
Renee decided to specialize in women’s health due to her passion of empowering women to make better choices for health promotion and disease prevention. As a working mother and wife, Renee understand the challenges women face with balancing work, career, and home life and that why she decided to become deeply involved in the healthcare of women.
Renee currently lives on a small farm with her husband, Keith, her daughter Emily and their “fur baby Goldendoodle”, Annie. Renee is passionate about healthy nutritional intake and loves experimenting with new recipes that promote healthy dietary intake. She enjoys outdoor activities to help improve the overall health of mind and body. Renee and her husband love nature and spend most of their time engaged in outdoor hiking and cycling. When she cannot be outdoors, she loves spinning and lifting weights. She also cherishes spending time with family and close friends
