Alisha Morgan has dedicated the last 20 years to the care of women and newborns. Her career began at the University of Kentucky where she worked as a labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursery nurse. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 with a Master’s degree in Nurse Midwifery and has spent the last eleven years providing full scope midwifery care at Lexington Women’s Health. Alisha has been the primary birth attendant for over 1,800 births. Her clinical interests and specialties include prenatal and postnatal care, family planning and benign gynecology.
In addition to her clinical duties, Alisha serves on hospital and organization committees at the sate and national level, speaks on midwifery and women’s health topics, and mentors new midwives and nurse practitioners. She is active in the Kentucky Association of nurse Practitioners and nurse Midwives, the American College of Nurse Midwives, and is a Kentucky midwife representative to Medicaid’s Postpartum Affinity Care Group, and the Institute for Medicaid Innovation’s Midwifery Led Collaborative. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a focus on quality improvement and leadership.
In her spare time, Alisha enjoys spending time with her husband of twenty years, her teenage son, and 4-year old labordoodle. She loves traveling and is an avid quilter.
