Are Heavy Periods Holding You Back?

You’re not alone – heavy menstrual bleeding is a widespread problem with one in five women needing treatment. A safe, quick in-office procedure known as an endometrial ablation can help.

Does This Sound Like You?

  • Do you need to change your saturated pads or tampons frequently?
  • Do you need to wear more than one pad at a time, or do you need to use both a tampon and a pad?
  • Do you struggle with soiled clothing or bed sheets?
  • Do you experience bleeding for longer than a week during your period?
  • Have you experienced symptoms associated with anemia such as tiredness or shortness of breath?
  • Have avoided or missed activities, work, or social events due to your menstrual bleeding?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be a candidate for an endometrial ablation. Relief is possible!

What is Endometrial Ablation?

Endometrial ablation is a minimally invasive surgical procedure, often performed in the office, used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding (periods). The procedure works by ablating (destroying) the tissue in the lining of the uterus called the endometrium. Because the endometrium is the tissue that causes bleeding, destroying this tissue is likely to significantly reduce or eliminate menstrual bleeding.

Quick and Simple: The procedure is quick, usually lasting less than 10 minutes. No incisions or general anesthesia are required. It is also typically covered by insurance, making it an accessible option for many patients.

Minimal Downtime: Most women are back to normal activities the next day.

Effective Relief: Periods are often significantly reduced or eliminated. Success rates have been noted as high as 95%.

Are You a Candidate for Ablation?

Scheduling an appointment is the first step to finding out! When you come into the office, your provider will discuss your personal medical history and will help you determine if endometrial ablation may be right for you. You are NOT a candidate for this procedure if you are pregnant or want to become pregnant in the future.

If you have heavy periods, it is a good idea to speak to your provider about endometrial ablation. You are not alone. We are here to help, and it’s easier than ever before! To schedule a consult, give us a call today.
