A native of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Dr. Emily Ricci attended undergraduate school at Boston College where she majored in English. Dr. Ricci entered the Pre-Med program at Boston College while earning The National Society of Collegiate Scholars in March, 1999, the Dean’s List Highest Honors in 2001-2002, and The Golden Key International Honor Society in 2002. As a Medical Student, Intern, and Resident at Thomas Jefferson University Medical School, Dr. Ricci continued to receive numerous awards and recognition for her outstanding academic achievements. She also pursued her personal interests in community service, leadership, and volunteerism. Despite a heavy academic load in medical school and residency, Dr. Ricci found time to volunteer with organizations such as Jeff Elect, Jeff Hope Clinics, UIH Family partners, and others where she served to educate and meet the medical needs of the under served communities of Philadelphia. These roles required countless hours of service where she coordinated and facilitated relevant lectures in women’s health and reproductive issues as well as working with teen Mothers to educate them in infant nutrition, daycare, and birth control. In 2009, Dr. Ricci received the B. Frank Lovett Memorial Fund Award for Compassion and Excellence in the Medical Care of Women and the John B. Franklin, MD Award for Dedication, Compassion, and Humanitarianism 2010. Today Dr. Ricci continues to enjoy living the “city life” and culture of Philadelphia where she enjoys the many new restaurants with friends and family. Traveling, reading, and yoga are just a few of Dr. Ricci’s favorite pastime pursuits.
