Maternal Fetal Medicine

Remote Maternal Fetal Medicine

Pregnancy is a meaningful and hopeful time, but it can also bring challenges—especially when complications arise. Our Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists are obstetricians with advanced fellowship training who provide expert support for high-risk pregnancies. Their role is to guide you and your family with care, clarity, and compassion.

To make this experience as comfortable as possible, we offer remote maternal fetal medicine services. This means you can receive important scans right in your own OB/GYN’s office, surrounded by the doctors and team you already know and trust, while still benefiting from the knowledge and guidance of our partner MFM specialists. Our goal is to ease worry and support the health of both you and your baby.

Once your scans are complete, they are reviewed by our MFM experts. A dedicated nurse navigator will then connect with you to schedule a convenient telemedicine visit, so you can speak with your MFM doctor from the comfort of your home and learn about the next steps in your care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Remote Maternal Fetal Medicine

What is a Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) doctor?

A maternal-fetal medicine specialist is a board-certified OB/GYN with three additional years of training in the management of high-risk pregnancies through the fourth trimester. MFMs are sub-specialists who care for mother and baby.

How effective is telemedicine for treating pregnancies?

Given that there are so few MFMs, telemedicine has been used effectively for many years, making it one of the few specialties to widely adopt its use long before the pandemic.
