Dr. Jessica Arendal was born in Washington, DC, and graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut with a degree in Biology. She spent time in Peru researching traditional birthing methods in the rural Andes Mountains before attending medical school at Loyola University Chicago. While in medical school, Dr. Arendal was awarded global health scholarships to participate in maternal and child health programs in Swaziland and Morocco. She was also the president of the Society of Reproductive Health, where she organized a student-run clinic at an underserved health center on the west side of Chicago. She used her fluency in Spanish to work as a translator at Loyola University Hospital.
Dr. Arendal completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She continued to pursue her interests in global health, teaching, and community service and was awarded multiple “Excellence in Teaching” awards. While in residency, Dr. Arendal developed a special interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. After graduating from residency, she spent 6 months in specialty surgical training on the daVinci Robot at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York City.
She is looking forward to continuing her practice in advanced gynecologic surgery at Garden State OB/GYN. Dr. Arendal lives in Audubon, NJ. She enjoys traveling, camping, water sports, live music, and spending time with family and friends.
