Carrie Smith MD

Provider Specialties
Gynecology
Dr. Smith believes every woman deserves to understand her body, be heard, and have the knowledge to make confident decisions about her health. A long time Hoosier, Dr. Smith attended both Purdue University and Indiana University before earning her Medical Degree and completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Indiana University School of Medicine. Before becoming a physician, she was a teacher, a role that shaped her love of teaching and continues to influence the way she cares for patients today. Having personally experienced endometriosis, miscarriages, and infertility, she understands the physical and emotional challenges many women face. In fact, it was her own physician who so lovingly cared for her through infertility that ultimately inspired her to do the same for others. She has a special interest in PCOS (now called Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovary Syndrome), infertility, and hormone therapy for menopause. Dr. Smith is committed to listening carefully, explaining options clearly, and developing individualized treatment plans that reflect each patient’s goals and values.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with her husband, their three children, and two dogs. She and her husband met at Purdue University, and after she later graduated from Indiana University, they jokingly became a “house divided.” As a family, they enjoy camping, traveling, and cheering on Ironman triathlons. She also loves art, gardening, and design, and she brings that same sense of curiosity and appreciation for details to the care she provides for you. Whether you are bringing your young daughter to discuss period problems or coming in for complications of menopause, Dr. Smith treats thru all phases of Gynecology, and she looks forward to helping you understand your body and make empowered decisions to improve your health.
