Now available – affordable genetic cancer testing for your whole family
Axia Women’s Health is committed to improving women’s health. Genetic testing can detect gene mutations that are highly predictive of cancer risk, but this testing has historically been very expensive. Insurance often covers such testing for patients with a family history for certain cancers, but for many genetic mutations, there can be as many people with the mutation in those not covered by insurance. Axia Women’s Health is tackling this opportunity by making genetic testing affordable for Axia Women’s Health patients and their family members.
By learning about your risk for cancer, you can create a care plan with your health care provider to take preventive measures or detect cancer earlier and treat it before it progresses, improving outcomes.
Having a Family History of Cancer
If you have a family history of cancer, your insurance may cover the cost of hereditary cancer testing. If not, we are offering genetic cancer testing for $249. If you receive a positive result, your first-degree relatives can get tested for just $50 each.
One test identifies your risk of developing cancer from 30 cancer genes including Breast, Ovarian, Uterine, Colorectal, Melanoma, Pancreatic, Stomach, and Prostate cancer.
Your provider, with a genetic counseling partner, will create a personalized prevention and early detection program, based on your results, to help reduce your risk of developing cancer or detect it earlier. Your plan may include:
Starting screenings at an earlier age and perhaps at more frequent intervals than the general public.
Suggesting changes in lifestyle, diet and exercise routines.
Proactively discussing how health disorders run in families with your relatives so they understand their hereditary cancer risk.
You can learn more at your provider’s office.
